Peristomal skin complications refer to skin problems around a stoma, and they can occur in up to 80% of people with a stoma.1
Issues such as skin irritation, allergic reactions, leakage of stool or urine, infections, and even skin trauma, can cause further breakdown and damage to the skin, which are often preventable.
